Review of "Epic April - Tour 1 - 10 Days" by Tornadic Expeditions

General review

This was my first tour, and I had a great time! Eric, Adam and Paul were excellent. They had excellent comaraderie and were fun to be with. They were extremely knowledgeable and willing to share their knowledge. We ate at excellent local diners and restaurants, and the hotels were clean and provided breakfast. There was an introductory PowerPoint the night before we started chasing and we got to meet our tour guides at that time and got our swag so we could wear it on the tour. There were eight people and three guides on this tour. We had plenty of room and since it was the end of the season, we did not have a ton of vehicles chasing with us. The main tornado that we saw developed right over our heads and we were the only chasers present - it was like the tornado formed just for us! We drove over 4,000 miles and visited nine states! We had some down time and got to visit Devils Tower and Deadwood City. We saw several supercells and had a great lightening show over badlands.

Vehicle review:

The vehicles were clean and roomy and there was WiFi and internet connection during all of the trips. The drivers, Adam and Paul, did a great job and I felt very safe in their hands. The vans had pock marks on them from hail damage which was hilarious and had to get photos. Eric expected us to take care of our space in the van and keep it clean. There was a screen attached to the back of the front seat so we could see what the guides were looking at and why we were going to any given location. Also had videos of their personal experiences with tornadoes and would tell us stories of things that happened to them in the field while chasing. It was very informative. They were passionate about what they were doing - even at the end of the season they were as excited as we were!

Tour guide review:

Eric, Adam and Paul did a great job. They did their very best to provide us with exciting weather views and we were fortunate to see a tornado form from its inception and learned what a "cinnamon biscuit" is. I also learned that tornadoes are relatively rare and it's like making a taco - you go grocery shopping for the ingredients (temperature, humidity, dew point, CAP, CAPE...), then you add some heat and mix the ingredients and hopeuflly the final product is the taco - (tornado). If one ingredient is missing then we don't get the best taco experience. They worked unison to find the best weather experience but we also learned that not every storm is going to produce and some of the reasons why.
